It’s been a while since my last update because I haven’t done much at the gym in the last few weeks. I’ve had a cough for what seems like forever and was on antibiotics for a few days (which did absolutely nothing) and am still taking cough syrup.
I hadn’t seen Randy in a month, and the last time I was at the gym was 3 weeks ago. Crazy, isn’t it? I told Randy I was still coughing and had a slight cold so he went a little easier on me. I just needed to get back to the gym so we had our first session on Wednesday morning. As I was walking to the gym (I have to cross the car park) I was told that I had to cover up my bottle of water as it was the first day of Ramadan. I know you can’t drink in public, but you can’t even hold a bottle? I told Randy when I saw him and he said he had just been at DIFC where people were eating and drinking freely.
I started with a 5-minute warm-up on the cross-trainer and then did the following circuit:
- Chest press (10-lb weights) x 15
- Fly press (3-kg weights) x 12
- Tricep dips x 12
- Abdominal leg raises x 15
After three sets of that I did another 3 minutes on the cross-trainer and had a rest.
I then did the following circuit three times:
- Kneeling one-arm rows (10-lb weight) x 15 on each side
- Crunches x 20
- Leg press x 20
- Abductor machine x 20
I woke up with sore arms and shoulders on Thursday.
I went back to the gym on Saturday – I did 5 km on the treadmill in 48:22. I didn’t feel like running so did a brisk walk instead. Something is better than nothing, right?
Low point of the week? I’ve been eating a lot of Galaxy bars over the last few weeks, especially the last week or so. I’ve decided I’m not going to buy any more!
High point of the week? Getting back to the gym.
