Your destiny lies in your own hands

So it’s been over 2 years since I’ve been a regular gym-goer and the weirdest thing happened to my playlist. When I moved to Dubai, I bought a new laptop. Once I’d transferred all my music over to my new laptop and connected my iPod to it, several songs wouldn’t play. I kept getting the message that I wasn’t ‘authorised’ to play certain songs (Don’t Give Up – Bryan Adams, Doctor Pressure – Mylo, Fade – Solu Music to name a few) even after I’d authorised my computer to use them. I got used to not hearing them because they wouldn’t even play in iTunes on my laptop.

Last week, I plugged in my iPod to update it. I recently decided to start training for a 10k race in January and decided I needed to update my iPod. While I was on the treadmill last week, all the songs I hadn’t heard in ages started playing! And yes, some of it is cheesy but I grew up in the 80s…

So now my playlist consists of (in alphabetical order):

  • Addy Traxxx Dance Mix Summer 2012 (this was made by one of my brother’s friends – it’s almost an hour long and includes artists like Gotye, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Maroon 5, Usher – it’s awesome)
  • Meet Me Halfway – Black Eyed Peas
  • World Hold On – Bob Sinclair
  • Don’t Give Up – Bryan Adams and Chicane
  • Jumbo Jumbo – The Caramel Club
  • Got to Be Real – Cheryl Lynn
  • Get Lucky – Daft Punk/Pharrell
  • Under Your Spell – Desire
  • We Came to Party – DJ Adam J
  • You Know What’s Up – Donnell Jones
  • Let’s Groove Tonight – Earth Wind and Fire
  • I Like It – Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull
  • Fastlove (Forthright Edition) – George Michael
  • Flawless – George Michael
  • Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
  • Kiss on My List – Hall & Oates (cheesy but it makes me smile)
  • Fame – Irene Cara
  • Love Will Never Do (Without You) – Janet Jackson
  • Beautiful (Jocie in My Room Mix) – Jask, Jocie
  • On the Floor – Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull
  • Man in Motion – John Parr
  • Rock Your Body – Justin Timberlake
  • Nightcall – Kavinsky
  • I’m Free – Kenny Loggins
  • All Night Long (House Remix) – Lionel Richie
  • I’m in Miami Bitch – LMFAO
  • Sexy and I Know It – LMFAO
  • Moves Like Jagger – Maroon 5
  • One More Night – Maroon 5
  • The Weekend – Michael Gray
  • Don’t Stop Till You Get  Enough – Michael Jackson
  • Remember the Time (New Jack Mix) – Michael Jackson
  • Doctor Pressure (Dirty Radio Edit) – Mylo
  • Closer – Ne-Yo
  • Because of You – Ne-Yo
  • Frontin’ – Pharrell/Jay-Z
  • Easy Lover – Phil Collins
  • Give Me Everything – Pitbull
  • Calle Ocho – Pitbull
  • Blurred Lines – Robin Thicke/Pharrell
  • The Game of Love – Santana/Michelle Branch
  • Don’t You (Forget About Me) – Simple Minds
  • Fade – Solu Music
  • Maybe Tomorrow – Stereophonics
  • Dakota – Stereophonics
  • Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
  • The Way I Are – Timbaland
  • DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love – Usher
  • Somebody to Love – Usher/Justin Bieber
  • If I Told You That – Whitney Houston/George Michael

The playlist is usually in ‘shuffle’ mode but I usually start with the hour-long mix at the top and never hear the other stuff on the playlist. I need to change that because it’s getting a little dull…

What am I missing? What works for you??
