There was no post last week as I didn’t actually do any exercise. After the 40th birthday party I went to I had a terrible cough and cold and fever. I took it easy most of the week. I was still coughing a bit on Sunday morning but told Randy I wanted an easy-ish session as I just needed to get back to the gym. After two weeks of not doing anything I found it tough.
I did my 5-minute warm-up on the cross-trainer and then started the first circuit:
- Chest press x 20/15/15
- Abdominal leg raises/scissor combination x 15
- Lateral raises (3-lb weights) x 20
- Squats x 15
I did that circuit three times. In the first set I used 10-lb weights for the chest press. In the second and third sets Randy increased the weights to 15 lbs but reduced the reps to 15. By the third set I was struggling with this. After the third set, I did 3 minutes on the cross-trainer and had a break.
The second circuit consisted of:
- Seated row x 15
- Single leg extensions (machine) x 12 on each side
- Skull crushers (3-kg weights) x 15
- Sit-ups x 20
I did that three times with a break in between each set. Randy stretched me out and I was done.
I was supposed to do some cardio on Monday but I was so tired I ended up doing nothing. I had my regular yoga class on Tuesday morning.
I was hungover for my second session with Randy on Wednesday morning. Luckily he decided to go easy on me. I can’t even remember what we did, but I remember being grateful that there were no long bouts of cardio. I don’t think I’d have been able to do that!
I was busy all day on Thursday as I was leaving for London on Friday for almost 4 weeks. I packed my trainers and gym kit but I wasn’t sure how often I’d use it while I was away…
Low point of the week? Being hungover on Wednesday.
High point of the week? Having two sessions with Randy and a yoga class.
Weight loss? I hit a low of 68.5 kg in the middle of the week – I figured I was extremely dehydrated from two nights out in a row.
