Your destiny lies in your own hands

Not a very eventful couple of weeks. I didn’t have my usual session on Sunday with Randy – he couldn’t make it. We had a session on Tuesday morning (Christmas Eve) instead.

After my 5 minutes on the cross-trainer we went outside by the pool. I did the following circuit three times:

  • Push-ups x 15
  • Skipping rope x 45 seconds
  • Sit-ups x 15
  • Ladder x 6 lengths

After that we went back inside. I did another 3 minutes on the cross-trainer and had a break.

The next circuit consisted of:

  • Upright row  x 15
  • Single-leg hamstring lifts x 10 on each side
  • Plank x 45 seconds

I did that set three times.

To finish off the session I did a 400-m jog on the treadmill. After I’d finished that, Randy stretched me out.

On Christmas Day I went to the Dubai Mall and ended up getting myself an UP wristband by Jawbone. It’s fascinating – it tells you how many hours you slept and how many steps you’ve taken each day – you just need to download the app and then plug in your wristband every night (or twice a day). You can also connect it to other apps such as MyFitnessPal and some others (which I don’t use).

I thought I was having another session with Randy on Thursday morning but I didn’t hear from him. By the time I realised I hadn’t heard from him it was quite late and we were out at a bar (it was Christmas Day). I’d have been too hungover to do anything anyway. On Saturday Randy sent me a message saying he had to go to Iran for a week to sort out his visa. I told him I’d do my cardio on my own (erm, I did one cardio session). I did nothing the whole week and then on Saturday morning a friend and I decided we’d go around Safa Park a couple of times. We’d have to do something if we were going to do the 10k race on the 24th of January! She picked me up at 9:30 and off we went. It took us 1:09 to do 7 km. We walked it – I think we ran for a minute but ended up walking it. I haven’t been this unmotivated in a long time.

Low point of the two weeks? Doing hardly anything and still being really unmotivated. Combined with the amount I’ve been eating and drinking, this is a total disaster.

High point of the week? I’ve decided to cut out bread for a while (again). So far so good.

Weight loss? None! I’m at my heaviest weight since about 2 years ago. At the beginning of 2013 I was aiming to lose 6-8 kg but instead I put on about 7 kg – and it was in the last 4 months of the year. Time to get serious again!
