I had my usual Sunday morning session with Trevor. My back felt much better than the week before but we thought it would be wise to take it easy for a few more days instead of going straight back into a torturous routine (my words, not Trevor’s). I did my 5-minute warm-up on the cross-trainer and did some walking on the treadmill. I used various weights machines, again taking precautions for my back. It was still a tough session!
On Thursday, we took it up a notch again. I did 5 minutes on the cross-trainer as a warm-up and then moved onto a cardio/weights circuit:
- Treadmill x 2 minutes (1 min at 5km/h, 1 min at 7 km/h)
- Tricep dips x 20
- Treadmill x 2 minutes (1 min at 5km/h, 1 min at 7 km/h)
- Mountain climbers x 20
- Treadmill x 2.5 minutes (1 min at 5km/h, 1.5 min at 7 km/h)
- Seated upright row x 20
- Treadmill x 3.5 minutes (1 min at 5km/h, 2.5 min at 7 km/h)
- Squats x 20
- Treadmill x 4.5 minutes (1 min at 5km/h, 3.5 min at 7 km/h)
- Alternating lunges x 20
After that, we did some boxing. We started with straightforward jabs – right, left, right, left. When I started ‘boxing’ Trevor tried to suppress his laughter. ‘What’s so funny?’ I asked, not sure if I wanted to hear the answer. His reply? ‘You just reminded me of one of those dancing show ponies.’
Excuse me? Did he just compare me to a horse??
‘Not a horse. You know, those dancing ponies with their elegant choreography.’
So I punched him in the face.
OK, I didn’t. But I did punch harder and tried not to be so ‘graceful’.
Jabs, hooks and uppercuts – and a combination of the three that seemed to go on for a very long time.
And finally I was done. I took off the sweaty gloves, did some stretching and that was my session over. That’s 20 sessions with Trevor done already!
Low point of the week? I ate a lot during the week – I was out for almost every meal and on Wednesday I was out for breakfast lunch and dinner. But I did manage to stay away from bread all week.
High point of the week? Discovering I could jog (slowly) for 3.5 minutes. Who knew??
Weight loss? None.
