Your destiny lies in your own hands

I had my usual session with Trevor on Sunday morning. I got to the gym just as Trevor texted to say he was running a few minutes late. I thought I’d start with my warm-up and just kept going until Trevor arrived. So I did 10 minutes on the bike.

Instead of the usual alternating walk/run, I did the following:

  • 2 min at 5 km/h
  • 1 min at 5.5 km/h with 3-kg weights and a 5% incline
  • 2 min at 5 km/h
  • 1 min at 5.5 km/h with 3-kg weights and a 6% incline
  • And so on until I got to an incline of 12%

Then I did the following circuit:

  • Sumo squats (with a 10-lb weight) x 15
  • Lunges x 20 (10 on each side)
  • Single leg deadlifts (3-kg weight) x 20 (10 on each side)
  • Combined squats/good mornings x 10
  • Cross-trainer x 3 min (resistance level 10)
  • Repeat

After the two sets of that circuit I did the following abs circuit:

  • Reverse curls x 15
  • Crunches x 15
  • Russian twists x 15
  • Plank x 30 seconds
  • Repeat

Then I did some stretching and I was done.

I had my yoga class on Tuesday morning. About 15 minutes into the class I started feeling a bit queasy but carried on. I put it down to being tired and felt OK for a while. Later that day, at about 6pm I started shivering and feeling queasy again. I got into bed and lay down until dinner. I felt better after eating but still not quite right. I slept early but woke up at 4am shivering again. And I didn’t get back to sleep for a while. At 6am I texted Trevor to say I wasn’t well and cancelled our session.

I felt a bit better on Wednesday and felt more or less ‘normal’ by Thursday. I have no idea what I’d eaten to make me feel like that but a friend told me there’d been a stomach bug going around.

I didn’t do much in terms of exercise the rest of the week.

Low point of the week? Only having one session with Trevor and one yoga class the entire week. And being sick, of course.

High point of the week? Was there one, I’m not sure…

Weight loss? None.
