Your destiny lies in your own hands

Trevor cancelled our Sunday session as he had something to deal with at the gym. I went to the gym on my own and did 3 km on the treadmill (29:16). I was still tired from the flea market the day before and was kind of relieved I didn’t have a full session.

On Monday I did 20 minutes on the treadmill (walking and running) and then did two sets of the circuit that Trevor had given me: bench step-ups, dumbbell punches, bench squats, deadlifts, mountain climbers and abdominal in/outs.

I had yoga on Tuesday morning. My cousin wasn’t well so it was just me and the teacher. She made me do a lot of things that I hadn’t done before. For example, while I was in shoulder stand, she asked me to rotate my hips so that my legs were like a helicopter. It was weird because I was trying to move my legs and still manage to keep myself in a shoulder stand position!

I had a session with Trevor on Wednesday morning. He asked me if we could start at 8am instead of 8.30am, which was fine with me. I like to get it out of the way. I warmed up for 5 minutes on the bike and then spent 12 minutes on the treadmill:

  • 1 min at 5 km/h
  • 1 min at 5 km/h with a 7% incline
  • 1 min at 7 km/h with a 7% incline
  • Repeat four times

I then did the following circuit:

  • Combined reverse lunge/bicep curls (10-lb weights) x 16 (alternating 8 on each side)
  • Combined curtsey lunge/inner thigh stretch x 16 (alternating 8 on each side)
  • Abdominal in/outs x 16
  • Rear deltoid fly (3 kg weights) x 16
  • Tricep dips x 16
  • Mountain climbers x 16 (on each side)
  • Treadmill x 4 min (5 km/h with a 7% incline)
  • Rest and repeat

I did a few stretches after that and then was done.

On Thursday I did a 5 minute warmup on the bike followed by 3 km on the treadmill (26:10) and on Friday I did only 2 km on the treadmill (19:32) and called it a day.

I was really hungover on Saturday and didn’t do anything. It was a miracle I could even get out of bed. I had to get to the bank before 3.30pm and even that was a challenge. I got home and got back into bed for an hour before meeting a friend who was in town from London.

Low point of the week? I had a friend in town from Lagos on Wednesday and Thursday and another friend from London on Thursday to Sunday. I ate and drank a lot this week.

High point of the week? Six times in a week is still pretty good going!

Weight loss? None.
