Aries

The 10 of Swords says in no uncertain terms that, finally, it’s over. You have fought and worked at it, but you cannot change the situation; there is no fixing it. You may want to try one last time, but you will have to accept that this time you are beaten. It’s a strange moment because you thought you’d feel a lot more pain and distress, but you actually feel calm and peaceful. Deep down, you are relieved you don’t have to fight it anymore. If you’re feeling tired and depleted, book yourself in for a massage or acupuncture to help you release any stress.

Taurus

The Hanged Man can represent, very simply, sacrifice. You may be asked to give up something for the sake of someone or something else. This card can also indicate the need for a change in thinking of a new point of view. Or it can be a more spiritual activity, one where you give up something of yourself to gain spiritual wisdom. It can also mean, almost literally, a time of suspension, a time where you should do nothing at all. There may be a need for a new perspective – things seem very different when looked at from a different point of view.

Gemini

The 9 of Wands implies that you are tired. Exhausted, in fact. You can’t imagine going on one more step. But you are encouraged to do so. Not only are you almost there, but you have the strength to get there. Tap into that core of determination you have and make that final push. All that you’ve set out to achieve is just within your grasp.

Cancer

The Hierophant often represents learning with experts or knowledgeable teachers. This card also stands for institutions and their values. It is a symbol of the need to conform to rules or fixed situations. The Teacher can show that you are struggling with a force that is not innovative, free-spirited or individual. Groups can be enriching or stifling, depending on circumstances. Sometimes we need to follow a programme or embrace tradition; at other times, we need to trust ourselves. Listen to what people have to say, but keep an open mind and take only what resonates with you.

Leo

The Death card rarely refers to physical death, which is some comfort. Death, whether physical or metaphorical, is not an easy experience. This card implies the end of something, perhaps a job, a relationship, a situation, an organisation. The actual ending will likely be hard, but once it’s over the cycle continues and something new will come. On the other hand, it may be a welcome closure, such as ending a bad relationship, quitting an unhappy job or selling a house to get a new one. On a spiritual level, this can mean a symbolic death where you eliminate old beliefs that no longer work for you and perhaps were holding you back. Death is usually hard, but it must happen before transformation or resurrection occurs.

Virgo

The Knight of Pentacles is like a bulldog – once he bites down, he won’t let go. He’s dogged in pursuit of his goals. He’s a hard worker, has tremendous stamina and is dedicated. Every job is completed down to the last detail. On the other hand, this Knight can be stodgy and dull. He’s not known for his playful sense of humour. Work always comes first and he can be inflexible and obsessive about little details. He refuses to give in, even when he’s wrong (which he’ll never admit). At this time, ask yourself whether this Knight’s energy is helping or hurting you – try to find a happy medium between his two extremes.

Libra

The 5 of Wands is a card of combat, competition and strife, so be prepared. In this situation, people bring their different agendas and desires. Not all can be accommodated, so they have to fight it out to see what will be kept and what will be eliminated. You need to understand and respect your competition, to be confident in what you are fighting for and to conduct yourself with skill.

Scorpio

The 3 of Pentacles is a sign that all is going well. If you have started a new business, embarked on a new project or begun a new health and fitness routine, you are seeing the signs of progress and even of prosperity. You’ve paid attention and done the best you can. You are getting attention and probably reimbursement for your work. Not only is the external recognition satisfying, but you are also finding much personal fulfilment in your endeavours. Be proud of what you do and how you do it.

Sagittarius

The 9 of Swords is about those worries that keep you up all night or wake you suddenly in the early morning hours. Thoughts, worries, guilt, anguish or concerns fill your mind and create havoc. You seem unable to settle your mind. The lack of sleep adds to the situation, making you feel even more vulnerable. Confront your fears as they are not as scary as you have imagined them to be.

Capricorn

The 3 of Wands indicates great vision and foresight. You have taken an idea and started implementing it. You have laid the groundwork for a new business, enterprise, career or project. You can clearly see your goal. Take a step back and watch for initial responses. Because you’ve done your work well, you can expect to see signs of success.

Aquarius

The King of Pentacles indicates that, for some of you, your hard work has paid off and you are financially secure. You may need to play the role of provider to someone, either personally or professionally. It may be that a project comes up which requires you to use facts and figures instead of your creative side. For others, if you are having financial issues, draw up a realistic plan of action on how to make use of your resources. Set your priorities straight. If you haven’t already done so, look into making your will.

Pisces

The King of Swords is a man of intellect who can absorb and work with information of all kinds. As a master of reason and logic, he analyses any problem with ease. He works out solutions quickly and explains them lucidly to others. In chaotic situations, he cuts through the confusion and provides the clarity needed to move forward. He is always truthful and can be relied on to handle any situation fairly and honourably. This week, take the kinds of actions he might take: telling the truth; thinking up a solution; communicating well; judging fairly.
